Exxon Mobil have refused to pay compensations to the victims of the 1998 Major spillage which adversely affected communities in Akwa Ibom and Rivers State. Affected communities had to approach the Niger Delta People's Salvation Front NDPSF when all other options failed after 7 years of painful environmental degradation. Many of the victims have also died, Mobil used its huge resources to sway the course of justice..

The NDPSF, the Political Wing of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force is demanding for justice on behalf of the communities and has sent a letter to this effect. This letter was signed by Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari a few days before his arrest. To read a copy of the letter
