PRESS
RELEASE
COMBATING
THE “THIRD TERM FLU”.
We are at the
threshold of history! Never in the history of Nigeria has much money
been made than today, yet never have our people lived in as much
deprivation, pain and penury. This is an embarrassing paradox
which has been the case since May 29, 1999, when General Olusegun
Obasanjo junta, maximum ruler of the Nigerian state took over.
During the famous oil boom of the 1970s and early 1980s, the highest
price of crude oil was about $44 per barrel and the daily export was
less than 1.8 million barrels. Under this regime crude oil has been
sold around $70 per barrel and daily crude oil export of Nigeria has
been around 2.5 million barrels. This is outside the daily gas
export. Rather than this being a blessing, it has been converted to
a curse by an individual who swims in tyranny.
Our society has
made hellish since 1999 with cost of commodities doubling, crime
rate tripling, corruption and capital flight quadrupling. The people
expressed their rejection of Gen Olusegun Obasanjo’s tyrannical
misrule in 2003 when they voted massively against him but in his
usual nature as a perpetual dictator, he manipulated the electoral
results in a manner that is unprecedented in the history of
elections in the world. May the black Saturday of April 19, 2003
never repeat itself in our history! The second term of this satanic
regime is characterized by accelerated ecological collapse,
illegal arrest and detention, blackmail, assassinations, massacre
and acts of genocide perpetrated against the Niger Delta peoples.
We cannot wait to see the end of this cantankerous regime let alone
tolerate it after 2007.
The inordinate
ambition of the world’s greatest dictator, General Olusegun Obasanjo
has created political instability leading to presidency-backed
coup de tat in Bayelsa and Oyo States, crack in the presidency,
fractionalization of all existing political association/parties and
unnecessary political tension. The crises you see and hear in
the land today are symptoms of an infection popularly known as
third term flu. The Tami flu needed to combat this flu
called third term is mass uprising. Niger Deltans and
others will march out en masse and remain on the streets
if the 1999 Constitution is manipulated to give room for
OBJ to run for third term.
Finally, we
salute the courage of members of the National Assembly who fought
doggedly to truncate this vampiric agenda. We commend
individuals and organizations who decided to oppose tenure
elongation for these individuals who have stolen power away from the
people. We acknowledge those media that have provided the medium for
people to campaign against this satanic conspiracy against our
people. We must all work together to make sure that power is
returned back to the people!
Thank you.

Struggle is Unstoppable!
