A CLARION CALL TO NIGER DELTA PEOPLE

|The Force | Check Email | Contacts |Home|

We call on all peoples of the Niger Delta to remain truly patriotic and to work for the total liberation of our people, while fishing out traitors and “vultures” amongst themselves who have been indoctrinated to sell their liberty for less than awaits them at the end of the struggle.

PRESS STATEMENT

WHO IS THE “SOUTH-SOUTH” PRESIDENT

Even though we do not believe in Nigeria as presently constituted it will be very proper that we put the records straight. Power is never given, it is merited and taken. There is a kind of enthusiasm, extra courage, inspiration and insistence that somebody who want to government a country should have. The person is supposed to be a leader in the true sense of the word. The “South-South” clique within the current ruling cabal of the Nigerian State is slavish and backward. They are not proactive, adventurous and creative. Their political ideology is loyalty to only bad rulers of the Nigerian State no matter their degree of evil. This is the character being exhibited now that is attracting much criticism from different part of the world. We are happy that the thirty term debacle has exposed them finally.

Not along ago, “South-South” presidency was a mantra in the political parlance of the Niger Delta. So many reasons were advanced, chiefly among them the fact that nobody from the “South-South” has ever governed the Nigerian State even when 95% of the country’s revenue comes from the zone. They promised that a “South-South” presidency will among other things; bring an end to the perennial Niger Delta Crisis. When it became clear that their new slave master (Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo) was interested in elongating his tenure, the South-South presidency mantra changed to “Third term” they argued that Obasanjo’s reform agenda has metamorphosed our society into some sort of El Dorado and that it needed to be sustained at all cost by him alone. They mobilized resources and manpower to ensure the spread of the “Third term virus” in spite of these facts:

1. That third term was not provided for by the “1999 Constitution” and that if the constitution was amended duly, it will take effect only from the end of this regime.

2. The reform agenda of Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo violates the letters and spirit of the “1999 Constitution” which provides that the economy should be ran in such a way as not to allow the wealth of the country to be concentrated in the hands of a few — that is what privatization and commercialization has achieved. Now that third term has been defeated by the effort of the National Assembly of the Nigerian State, Activists and those who feel that they are ready, courageous and qualified enough to govern the Nigerian State, the South–South clique have resurrected their South–South Presidency dream which had been negotiated away to “third term”. They cannot eat their cake and have it!

These were the views expressed in the analysis of Engr. Abdullahi Kure of Niger State and it is a correct scientific position. We, in the Niger Delta People Salvation Front (NDPSF) know better and on the strength of this we ask the following questions:

1. Who among those currently lobbying for president from the south-south has the moral, intellectual and historical requirement to be president?

2. Who among them spoke out and worked against ‘third term’?

3. If Obasanjo was running for third term, where would their ambition have gone?

4. Now that Obasanjo has admitted that the defeated of the ‘third term agenda’ was a victory for democracy, does it not imply victory against the supporters of the third term agenda, which include government officials and pseudo-presidential aspirants from the South-South?

These are all rhetorical questions that seek to expose the facts barely.

Engr. Abdullahi Kure was correct on Dr. Peter Odili who Gen Obasanjo seen to be interested in. This is a state governor who receives Federal Allocation that is higher than that of all the South-East states put together, yet there in nothing to should for it. He is the most corrupt governor of any state in the Nigerian State. If Gen Olusegun Obasanjo is serious about fighting corruption, Dr. Peter Odili should, have been rotting away in jail some where; instead, in celebration of his lootocratic achievement, he is gallivanting everywhere lobbying to be President with the stolen wealth of our people. We want our people to be eternally vigilant, for it is the price of liberty. The ‘third term agenda’ entails a lot of things which include the drafting in of a super–lootocratic and kleptomaniac personality and stooge  like Dr. Peter Odili to continue to maintain the status-quo of criminal exploitation of our peoples and wicked degradation of our environment, if the tenure elongation option fails. This is what the resurrected South-South Presidency syndrome entails.

We call on the masses to disregard the arguments in favour of a “South-South” President as it is unfounded, baseless and a deliberate attempt to ensure that the present ruling cabal maintains its grip on power. We should mobilize en masse to see to the abortion of this inordinate ambition and termination of this nightmare called South-South Presidency as it will further aggravate the crisis in the Niger Delta and intensify our suffering. Our official position is that self determination should be granted to the various ethnic nationalities that were forcefully conscripted into the entity called Nigerian. When this is achieved, it will be clear that arguments in favour of rotational or zonal Presidency, Prime Minister, Premier or Governor, are intellectually contemptible, morally bankrupt and ideologically baseless.

The struggle continues! Victory is sure!
